Mission

At Detour Coffee we believe in featuring the unique character of each coffee. Roasting is an elusive art and only a few degrees of temperature difference toward the end of the roast can result in dramatic changes in flavour.

To maximize character, we start by profiling each new coffee, pulling small samples out of our roaster at varying temperatures and taste or "cup" them. This way we can pinpoint the roast level that best features what is there at origin: the influence of terrior, varietal characteristics and the care and attention of each individual farmer.
